Ann Curry

Ann Curry is an American photographer and journalist who has worked as a journalist for over 45 years, focusing on people suffering from the aftermath of natural catastrophes and war zones. Curry has covered the conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry (born on November 19, 1956 in the city of Agana) is an American television reporter, anchor and journalist. Curry was best known for her work as a reporter on The Today Show, which was a morning newscast produced by the National Broadcasting Co. Curry became known in particular for her reporting on human rights crises, natural disasters and other emergencies that took place in war-ravaged regions. Curry's father was a sailor in the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Her father was with the mother of her in Japan while he was stationed in Japan following World War II. Her father was a member of the military and her family had to move around frequently. Curry completed high school in Ashland Oregon. In the end, University of Oregon awarded her a bachelor of arts in journalism. The exposure she received to a variety of cultures and experiences throughout her childhood probably contributed to her empathy in her approach to issues of international significance. Curry could not attend one school in the cities of San Diego, Alameda Oregon, or Virginia for two years because her family was constantly moving. Ashland in Oregon is the place where Curry graduated. In the role of an intern at KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregan, she began her journey in the field of broadcasting. She became the first female anchor at the station, when she aged 22. In Portland, Oregon she was appointed anchor as well as a reporter for KGW the NBC affiliate. After that, she moved to Los Angeles four years later as a journalist for KCBS TV. Two Emmy Awards were won during the six years she worked for TV station KCBS.
